Bob & Anne Arns, Proprietors

Anne and Bob Arns envisioned a small vineyard estate focusing on Bordeaux varietals since their wedding over 40 years ago. With a keen interest in wine, they were both very inspired by the now famous "Judgment of Paris" tasting that took place in 1976, when California wines were rated above their French counterparts. The Arns look back at that hallmark year as the beginning of their quest to produce world class wine. In 1998, they purchased their dream Napa Valley property and planted 15 acres the following year. They have a passion for sharing food and wine with friends and family and enjoy their agricultural connection to the earth.


Ken Bernards, Winemaker

Ken Bernards is widely acknowledged to be one of California’s visionary winemakers. Since his first harvest in 1986, Ken has remained on the leading edge of winemaking technique in California, using scientific experimentation in the vineyards and in the winery, while at the same time adhering to traditional, artisanal methods of winemaking. He has made wine for the Arns since the first harvest of 2002 and is always striving to allow vineyard character to be expressed through Tournesol wines.


Zach Berkowitz, Viticulturist

The essence of great wine begins in the vineyard. Viticulturist Zach Berkowitz has over 35 years of noteworthy experience in the farming and supervision of premiere vineyards. Under his careful guidance, Tournesol Vineyards produces superior grapes using more natural, less intrusive management techniques, including integrated pest management and deficit irrigation. Zach has a great ability to focus on each vineyard block and to implement individual, custom farming practices based on the specific terroir.


Carlos Martinez, Vineyard Crew

Carlos Martinez has farmed Tournesol Vineyards since its inception, first as an employee of Richard Perry, and then taking over Perry's vineyard management business. Today Martinez works closely with Zach Berkowitz and Ken Bernards to ensure ecological grape production and superior wine quality. From pruning in the winter to harvesting in the fall, Carlos and his dedicated crew perform each task with skill, care and knowledge.


Kina Kreer, Estate Manager

Kina was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area. She obtained a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon, and her family has been in the Napa Valley for 25 years. Kina has a background in real estate, retail sales and hospitality, and is a Certified Specialist of Wine with the Society of Wine Educators. Kina supports Anne and Bob in taking care of sales and marketing, Inner Circle members, Tournesol Estate guests, and trade relationships nationwide.


Chris Arns, Operations Consultant

Chris Arns, son of owners Bob and Anne Arns, has the responsibility of ensuring that the soil and streams of Tournesol Vineyards are sustainable and healthy for future generations. To attain ultimate soil and crop health, the vineyard management plan includes composting, planting cover crops based on the nutritional needs of the soil, and farming organically without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.
