Anne and Bob Arns envisioned a small vineyard estate focusing on Bordeaux varieties since their wedding over 30 years ago. With a keen interest in wine, they were both very inspired by the now famous "Judgment of Paris" tasting that took place in France in 1976, the same year as their marriage, where California wines were rated above their French counterparts. The Arns look back at that hallmark year as the beginning of their dream to produce world class wine. In 1998, Bob and Anne purchased their Napa Valley property and planted 15 acres the following year. They share a passion for food and enjoy their agricultural connection to the earth.
Tournesol produces two distinctive wines from their estate vineyards in southeastern Napa. Each year, the Proprietor's Blend is a unique, elegant wine that represents the best combination of grape varieties from the individual vineyard blocks. The wine is very approachable upon release and has the stuffing to continue aging. Grapes for the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon are harvested from a small section of a gently rising, north-facing slope that over time has proven to be a uniquely expressive site.
The Cabernet Sauvignon is a big, powerful, concentrated wine with great finesse and a long aging potential.
Common misspellings of Tournesol include turnesol and tornesol.
